Florentino Perez said he is not concerned about rumors of an impending exit for Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Real Madrid president expecting the Portuguese to sign a new contract.
Reports continue to suggest that Ronaldo could make a move back to his former club Manchester United, with the prolific forward yet to sign a new deal.
His current contract expires in the summer of 2015, and some reports have suggested Ronaldo might even wait until then before leaving Real on a free transfer.
Reports of an impending departure increased when Ronaldo took to Twitter to dispel rumors suggesting he had signed a new contract with Real.
However, Perez has always insisted his priority is to ensure Ronaldo's future at the Bernabeu and the president remains confident of doing just that.
"Cristiano made these statements because there was some information in the media which did not match reality," he told 20minutos.
"Soon we will clarify this issue. I have no doubt that Cristiano is going to retire at Real Madrid. I am convinced that he will renew."
"It (renewing Ronaldo's contract) is our most important activity, around whom we can build the Madrid of the future."
United are looking to bring back one of their greatest ever players, with the English Premier League champions keen to make a statement of intent under new manager David Moyes ahead of the new season.
Meanwhile, United playmaker Shinji Kagawa has expressed his disappointment at the way he performed last season, but expects to come good in the new campaign which starts in August.
"It was a tough time for me, with a lot going on in my head," he said.
"I am not happy with my performance for the team at all. I didn't score that much and I also had my (knee) injury.
"Despite that, it was great we won the league, but I just don't feel that I achieved everything that I wanted.
"For me personally, it wasn't a good season.
"Whenever there is a tough time, whenever it gets difficult for me, I just train and look ahead to the future," he added on premierleague.com.
"I always think that I must play well and I always have an image in my mind of how I want to play, wherever the position."
