Aug 21, 2014 06:06 PM EDT

The PGA Tour Leaderboard is live from the Barclays 2014 and the tournament in the FedEx Cup playoffs has Rory McIlroy chasing from behind after a tough day, shooting a 74 in the first round and now a group of players lead with Hunter Mahan, Jim Furyk, Cameron Tringale and Paul Casey among the leaders, while McIlroy now has his work cut out for him, although he doesn't need to qualify while Phil Mickelson is playing as well.

McIlroy has been dominant on the tour and won the PGA Championship following his Open Championship win and now he has the chance to get things back together on Friday in the second round. McIlroy has been dominant and he had a stretch of double digit rounds under par and this was his first in quite a while. McIlroy struggled around the course in New Jersey and he comes in ranked number one in the world.

McIlroy hit just seven of the 14 fairways on the day and he comes in as the number one player and he already is the leader in FedEx Cup points. McIlroy already is in to advance to the next tournament and he is a lock basically for the Tour Championship, but he is hoping to stay in the top five of the rankings.
