PGA Tour Leaderboard: BMW Championship Live Golf Scores For FedEx Cup With Rory McIlroy

Sep 04, 2014 01:45 PM EDT

The PGA Tour leaderboard is live from the BMW Championship 2014 tournament with golf scores from Cherry Hills in Englewood in Colorado and Sergio Garcia leads Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth in the second round heading into the third round on Saturday and the coverage is live from NBC and the Golf Channel and the leaderboard is updating from ESPN.com and PGATour.com as the FedEx Cup competition continues.

The PGA Tour Leaderboard is live with scores from the BMW Championship for the FedEx Cup and the tournament has Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson leading the way as Adam Scott, Jason Day, Justin Rose and others tee off for the first and second round starting Thursday and Friday and coverage is live from NBC and The Golf Channel through the weekend in Englewood at Cherry Hills CC.

McIlroy and Mickelson will tee off in the afternoon and they have a strong group of players at this tournament, while Tiger Woods will be out of things. The Ryder Cup is coming at the end of the month and this is the chance for players to get things going ahead of that in Scotland. Mickelson is looking to stay in shape here and McIlroy is coming into the tournament after a great run and he won two majors and he also won another tournament in there and he has the chance to keep things going in the FedEx.

McIlroy is second in the FedEx standings and he is behind Chris Kirk after he won last week and he leads Hunter Mahan and Jimmy Walker as well as Matt Kuchar in the top five. Bubba Watson is in the mix as well and he is sixth ahead of Jason Day, Jim Furyk and Jordan Spieth, while Rickie Fowler rounds out the top 10. McIlroy has won two majors this year and this season he has three wins overall and has been in the top 10 already 10 times and he is getting stronger as things go on and he comes in after the Barclays and the Deutsche Bank Championship.

The Deutsche Bank Championship saw Kirk finish very strong and now he has the chance to make it onto the Ryder Cup team and he could be a pick for Tom Watson. The Americans have struggled recently in that and they would love to win in Europe, but that will be very tough with the way McIlroy and others are playing. McIlroy and Caroline Wozniacki broke up this year and that clearly has helped him along, as he won two majors after that in the Open Championship and the PGA Championship as well.

McIlroy said that he thinks the Ryder Cup will be tight this year and the past two have been very close and now McIlroy has the chance to lead his team to a win. McIlroy has won with the Euro team before and the team is looking to win their third straight Cup and they are the favorites to do so. McIlroy has the momentum after his major wins and he has a strong team with him, as Justin Rose has played well and so has Sergio Garcia and that should make things very interesting once the competition picks up.
