Sep 08, 2014 04:46 PM EDT

The US Open final is on Monday night between Kei Nishikori and Marin Cilic from Queens and comes live from CBS at 5 pm ET and this is for the men's singles championship after Serena Williams defended her title and now the first Japanese player ever in a slam final will try and win over Cilic, who was able to get past Roger Federer with relative ease in the semis.

Nishikori comes into things after putting away Novak Djokovic and he has been on a great run at this tournament and he has the chance to make history with a win here. The two players are double digit seeds and this is the first time that two double digit seeds are facing off in the final and it's the first time in quite a while that names like Djokovic, Federer and Nadal are not in the final.

Federer had been looking good for most of the tournament and now he is out and Nadal was never there after dealing with a wrist injury. Cilic won in straight sets against Fed, but Kei had more trouble with Dojo, who did not look like his usual self and he lost to Nishikori by the score of 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (4), 6-3. The final us very anticipated and this tournament has not seen much rain and while there could be some in the forecast, it likely will not come until later.
