May 18, 2015 07:50 PM EDT

The Tampa Bay Lightning and NY Rangers are set for the eastern conference finals in the NHL playoffs and Game 2 is live from New York at Madison Square Garden before Game 3 heads to TB and MSG will be host on Monday at 8 pm ET and the game is on TV from the NBC Sports Network and streaming from the NBCSN Live Extra website as the Rangers try and pull a 2-0 series lead.

The Rangers come into the second game after getting a win on Saturday and that kept their streak going in the playoffs, as they have now won four in a row. The Lightning dominated the Rangers earlier in the season, but those games were played before the team really clicked and went on their great run. The Lightning were one of the best teams during the regular season and they finished behind the Rangers in the standings, as New York won the President's trophy.

The Rangers started off with a goal late in the first period, as Derek Stepan was able to put in a shot after touches from Chris Kreider and Ryan McDonagh, who has been playing like a captain all playoffs for New York. Ben Bishop played very well for Tampa Bay, but Henrik Lundqvist was even better and now the Rangers have a 1-0 lead in the series. The Lighting tied things up with a power play goal and that was big in the third from Ondrej Palat with touches from Tyler Johnson and Victor Hedman.

But like they have all playoffs, the Rangers were not ready to give up and they kept plugging away until they were able to get another goal. Kevin Hayes threw the puck on net and Dominic Moore, who had been elevated with Mats Zuccarello out, was right in position and the puck went in off of his shin. The team held tight and got the victory and now they are one step closer to the ultimate goal, but still only halfway.

The Lightning have been one of the top teams in the playoffs on the offensive end, but the Rangers held them to one goal in the first matchup. The team was without Brian Boyle, but Ryan Callahan was able to play despite having an appendectomy earlier in the playoffs. The Rangers came back from a 3-1 deficit against the Washington Capitals in the second round of the playoffs, forcing a Game 7 and wining to advance into the conference finals. The Rangers had a 1 percent chance of beating the Capitals in the series before scoring in Game 5 and now they are into the conference finals again.
