Julius Thomas will miss the first 3 games and possibly the fourth of the regular season as he recovers from hand surgery.
The surgery is to repair ligament damage in his right hand from an injury suffered earlier on in the offseason. Thomas opted to get paid in free agency leaving the Denver Broncos for the Jacksonville Jaguars however for the Jaguars so far that is a bust. The Jaguars have said that Thomas is the best player in Jaguars training camp however it is unlikely he will be able to show that on the field until week 5.
Even with Thomas aiming to return at week 4 it is likely he will need to be eased back into the offense however when he is on the field he is the most talented receiver the Jaguars have.
The Jaguars need Thomas to make a splash when he returns and to play at the level he has performed at with Peyton Manning. His stint with the Jaguars will answer the question of who was helping who, was Manning's accuracy and acumen for the game giving Thomas the stats he needed to be elite?
Or was it Thomas who made Manning look better than the average quarterback his age? We will have to wait until week 4 to figure out an answer.
