San Diego Chargers Rumors and News: Eric Weddle Fined, Placed On IR, Time With Team Likely Over

Dec 29, 2015 03:29 PM EST

The San Diego Chargers/ Eric Weddle feud has spiraled out of control. Weddle is now being fined $10,000 for not returning to the locker room during half time.

Instead Weddle stayed on the field to watch his daughter's halftime performance sponsored by the San Diego Chargers cheerleading squad. Weddle did not ask permission which is seemingly the issue however in the grand scheme of things the San Diego Chargers might not even be in San Diego next season. Weddle is 30 years old and has spent his entire 9 year career with San Diego.

Weddle was even seen lying down in the center of the field in Qualcomm Stadium as the Chargers completed what could be their last home game in San Diego. He even stayed after most players went home and continued to sign autographs for fans.

On the flip side punter Mike Scrifes went into the locker room and was allowed to catch the end of the halftime performance as his daughters danced in the performance as well. The main issue between Weddle and the Chargers has been money all season long.

The Chargers secondary is a very challenging group thanks mostly to Weddle and his ability to make plays and shut down receivers. Weddle currently leads this defense in tackles with 77 and averages around 937 snaps a season. To add insult to injury the Chargers placed Weddle on IR against his wishes as he believed he could play. One thing is clear after this season with the Chargers Weddle will be wearing a different jersey come 2016.
