Miami Dolphins Rumors: Will Team Be Able To Re-Sign Lamar Miller?

Feb 16, 2016 09:45 AM EST

It is being reported that the Miami Dolphins are very interested in re-signing Lamar Miller however they may not have the cap space in order to lure the talented running back to return.

Miller will undoubtedly have a healthy market in free agency and there are plenty of teams looking for a solid running back to carry the load. Teams like the Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers, and the Washington Redskins could look to lure Miller away from the Dolphins. Miller has complained about being underutilized in the past and he will need to feel comfortable with his workload if he were to return.

More importantly the price would have to be right and with the Dolphins sitting at $7 million in cap space it is pretty unlikely that they will be able to retain Miller along with several of their top free agents. Olivier Vernon and Rishard Matthews are likely to draw a solid amount of interest from NFL teams and the Dolphins will have a hard time matching any offers they receive.

The Dolphins will have the 8th overall pick in the NFL draft and should look to bolster their defense or rebuild their offensive line. The Dolphins have more important needs to focus on than spending all of their cap space resigning Miller.
