Alex Collins has been forced to cancel his Signing Day ceremony after his mother confiscated his letter of intent to play for Arkansas. Collins hadplanned a ceremony at South Plantation High School where he attended, but his mother showed up and took the documents and left. According to sources, Andrea McDonald does not want Collins to leave his home state of Florida. While Collins is 18 and does not need a parent or guardian to co-sign his letter of intent, he said he needs more time to think over his decision.

Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema appeared on ESPNU's broadcast of National Signing Day to discuss the team's recruiting. Due to the fact that the school had yet to receive Collins' letter of intent, Bielema was not permitted to speak about the five-star running back. Collins originally gave verbal commitment to Arkansas during a Fox Sports South broadcast where he and Alabama commit Reuben Foster announced their decision to play for Arkansas and Alabama respectively.

Collins is considered the top all-purpose running back in the 2013 recruiting class. The 5-foot-11, 204-pound back is originally from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He rushed for 2,915 years and 38 touchdowns in his last two seasons of high school football.

South Plantation athletic director Mike Collins told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that due diligence needs to be done on the family's side of things.

"We're going to give the family as much time as they need to make the right decision. At this time there's no indication of anything other than the original plan. The family just wants more time," Collins said.

Collins had originally committed to Miami, but backed off that back in November. He took official visits to Florida, Miami and Arkansas, while also showing interest in Florida State. It is believed Collins will still sign with Arkansas. What is National Signing Day without a little drama?
