Valentine's Day Sports Schedule: College Basketball, NBA and NHL Games Dominate The Loneliest Day For Many Fans

Valentine's Day can be one of the best or loneliest days of the year depending on who is celebrating and for anyone without a significant other, the sports world is covered.

On Thursday, there are plenty of sports going on to pass the time, including in the NHL, NBA and college basketball. Golf has the Northern Trust Open from Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades and coverage continues through the weekend.

The NBA has some of the best matchups, as the Miami Heat take on the Orlando Magic. Other games include the battle for California as the Los Angeles Lakers play the Los Angeles Clippers.

The NHL has six games going on, with the New York Islanders and New York Rangers battling for New York, as well as the Toronto Maple Leafs taking on the Carolina Hurricanes. Other games include the Montreal Canadiens and Florida Panthers, Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning, the Phoenix Coyotes and Nashville Predators as well as the Colorado Avalanche taking on the Minnesota Wild.

College basketball has a lot to offer, including five games with ranked teams, including Gonzaga and Saint Mary's, as well as Arizona and Colorado. Other games include Wisconsin and Minnesota, St. John's and Louisville, as well as Ohio State and Northwestern. Various unranked matchups include USC and Stanford as well as UCLA and California, Penn state and Iowa and LSU against South Carolina.
