Chelsea Transfer Rumours: David Luiz a Major Summer Target for Barcelona; Lampard Interesting Everton

Barcelona have reignited their interest in Chelsea defender David Luiz, with Tito Vilanova earmarking the Brazilian as one his priority summer targets.

Luiz was constantly linked with a move to Barca last summer, but those rumours were quickly shot down by Chelsea, saying the 25-year-old was a major part of their future plans.

However, according to a report in Portuguese newspaper 'A Bola', the Brazilian is among a list of candidates shortlisted by Vilanova, which also includes Brazilian star Neymar.

Vilanova reportedly met with sporting director Antoni Zubizareta, technical secretary Albert Valentin and football co-ordinator Narcis Julia in New York this week to discuss the transfer targets for next season.

Chelsea are unlikely to want to sell their player, with Luiz also recently excelling in the holding midfield role.

While doubts still remain over Luiz's capabilities playing in the center of defense, there have been absolutely no signs from either player or club that they are willing to look at other options.

However, Barcelona, have such a hold on players due to their success and style, that Chelsea's hand might be forced if Luiz says he fancies a move.

The Blues forked out £21 million ($32.5 million) to bring the player to Stamford Bridge from Benfica in 2011, and Chelsea are likely to want to recoup as much as possible if they were forced to sell.

Meanwhile, Everton are the latest club to join the list of interested clubs looking to sign Frank Lampard, who, as things stand, will be a free agent in the summer.

Lampard is yet to be offered a new contract at Chelsea, and there has been no public statement made by the club that they are willing to change their stance of not offering a new deal for the 34-year-old.

The likes of L.A. Galaxy, Paris Saint Germain, Monaco and a host of Italian clubs have been linked, while there has also been interest from Manchester United closer to home.

Everton are ready to offer a three-year deal, if Lampard is willing to take a major paycut, with the club's top scale at around £80,000 a week ($124,000), according to the Daily Star.

Lampard will have plenty of options, no doubt, to choose from at the end of the season, but a lot of it depends on whether Roman Abramovich actually makes a u-turn and decides to retain the services of the midfielder, who is only four goals short of equalling the all-time goalscoring record of Bobby Tambling.
