Katherine Webb has skyrocketed in popularity since being featured on camera at the BCS National Championship game after being commented on by Brent Musberger and now she has thanked the announcer for all his help.
According to Sports Illustrated, Webb was interviewed on the Dan Patrick show on Wednesday and spoke about Musberger's comments as well as the turns her career has taken since becoming famous.
Webb said to Patrick about Musberger:
"Thank you for everything you've done and for helping my career and helping me make a new life for myself. I was in Los Angeles and I was already modeling before, so all of this stuff that I'm doing is no strange thing to me. I was actually having a hard time in Los Angeles booking jobs. ... After all this happened, people started calling," she said, according to Deadspin.
Webb instantly went viral after being featured on television during the game with five minutes left in the first quarter and received some praise from Musberger, who said "You quarterbacks, you get all the good looking women. What a beautiful woman."
"Wow!" former Ohio State quarterback Kirk Herbstreit added. "AJ's doing some things right down in Tuscaloosa."
Her Twitter profile gained thousands of followers and she later worked the Super Bowl for Inside Edition on CBS. Webb was featured in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition with model Kate Upton. She also was rumored to be appearing on "Dancing With the Stars" and she also is planning a move to New York to pursue her modeling.
Upton was on the cover of the swimsuit issue for the second year in a row, becoming just the fifth model to do so after Christie Brinkley (1979-81), Elle MacPherson (1986-88), Paulina Porizkova (1984-85) and Tyra Banks (1996-97). The main part of the photo shoot was in Antarctica, while others were in more tropical climates.
Webb gained attention as the girlfriend of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, who led the Crimson Tide to a 42-14 win in the championship game in Miami against Notre Dame.
McCarron had one of his best games, passing for 264 yards and four touchdowns on 20 of 28 passes. The junior has now thrown for 10 touchdowns and just one interception over the past four games and helped him to become the first quarterback to win back-to-back titles.
