Michael Jordan Birthday: Remembering His Winning Slam in '88 Dunk Competition

It's Michael Jordan's birthday, so you better believe somebody is playing 50 Cent right now. However, as we look at the 2013 Slam Dunk contest, Jordan partcipated in one of the most dramatic jam contests in the history of the game. It was Jordan versus Atlanta Hawks' Dominique Wilkins, but that became a story for Jordan to tell with a smile on his face.

There was little that could stop Jordan at this time. You had to place the Detroit Pistons in his way since they were his only Kryptonite . Jordan was attempting to defend his 1987 Dunk Contest title and by no means was he losing it in front of his hometown Chicago Bulls crowd.

The dunk contest was so close that it could have been settled by a jumper, if th. However, that wasn't the case. It's a dunk contest, so the night was all about dunking. There were no jumpers or layups. Only dunks were acceptable.

Jordan didn't let the home crowd down as he jumped from the free throw line which led to famous Jordan poses on posters.

Jordan leaped from the free- throw line and the rest was history. The scoring was so close that they named it the best dunk contest in the history of the game as Jordan's dunk won him the competition. Jordan beat Wilkins 147-145 as the scorers and judges credited No. 23 with the victory.

Jordan, without any doubt, was the man of the hour having won his second consecutive title as a professional. It was even more sweet since he did it in Chicago. 

Jordan proved he was going to be the king of the court and rule the airs of the NBA.
