Olympic Medalist Lindsey Vonn Post Photos of Her Legs After Skiing Accident

Olympic Gold Medalist Lindsey Vonn is on the road to recovery after a Feb. 5 skiing accident, but after releasing photos of her reconstructive surgery, the road to recovery looks like it'll take a while.

Vonn, 28, shared a photo of her bruised and bandaged legs with her fans and supporters on Feb.15, just days after undergoing surgery.

"My knee looks...um...not very good....," Vonn tweeted alongside the photo on revealing the extent of her injuries, after the horrific crash in Austria last Tuesday during the Alpine Ski World Championships.

"Success! Surgery went very well yesterday and I'm recovering at home in [V]ail with my family," she wrote Monday. "I want to sincerely thank everyone for their well wishes these last few days. It's going to be a long and hard road back but I will be back!! Xoxo Lv @gopro #postsergurypic #idontlikehospitalpics"

Vonn tore her right ACL and MCL, as well a broken bone in her lower leg.

The shared photos of her post-surgery this past Friday drew nearly 47,000 likes on her Facebook, revealing all her fan support as she recovers to work her way back into good physical condition.

She also posted two other post-surgery photos, one surrounded by her family and another of her doing rehabilitation exercises with the caption "not letting obstacles stand in your way #givesyouwings." She added, "When you fall, get back up!!"

Dr. William Sterett, the physician who performed the surgery, confirmed that it was a success with this released statement:

"The overall success rate for ACL/MCL surgery is very good. Modern surgical techniques combined with aggressive rehabilitation will help Lindsey make a full recovery," Sterett said in a statement. "She will do everything in her power to return as quickly as possible to competitive skiing."
