Leeds United and Blackpool are set for a Wednesday clash in the English League Championship as Blackpool travels to Elland Road for the match starting at 2:45 PM ET.
Leeds enters the game on a cold streak, as they have not recorded a win since defeating Tottenham Hotspur in January in round four of the FA Cup. After a 4-0 loss against Manchester City in round five, the club now has a tough match against Blackpool at home.
Leeds is slightly ahead of Blackpool in the table standings, earning 42 points to their 40, although Leeds has played one less match. Leading scorer for Blackpool Thomas Ince is expected to return to club, just as his father takes over the team for the first time. He came to the club on a one-year contract after being confirmed as the successor to Michael Appleton.
Ince the player has been key for Blackpool, leading the club in goals with 17 and assists with 10. In the last match against Ipswitch he came off the bench in the 1-0 defeat, as he was coming back from an appeal at UEFA's headquarters in Switzerland about a one-match international ban that stretched back to England Under-21s' European Championship match against Serbia in October. Ince has been hot lately, scoring four goals in his past four games.
Blackpool will have Matt Gilks after a suspension, while left-back Bob Harris will be out with a toe injury. The team will also be weaker after Ian Evatt hurt his knee, as he will miss the rest of the season.
Leeds will be looking for a boost from midfielder Paul Green, who did not play in the match against Premier League champions Manchester City after dealing with an ankle injury.
"Greeny went over his ankle,'' said Leeds manager Neil Warnock to ESPN.com. "He was desperately disappointed. He asked if he could have a late fitness test, but I said no. I would rather him be fit for Wednesday, and I would think we will have him back for then.''
Warnock said the substitutions he made during the match against Manchester City were done with Wednesday's match in mind and that Michael Brown and Ross McCormack were brought to the bench for that reason.
"I wanted to keep Browny and Ross for Wednesday,'' Warnock said. "Browny is doing brilliant at the minute and he's played a lot of football, and Ross is obviously a big player for us and I want him for Wednesday.''
Paddy Kenny is likely to be in goal for Leeds and the team will be looking for some scoring from Luciano Becchio, who is leading the team with 15 goals. Leeds is 12th in the table position in the standings and has put up a minus-seven goal differential after allowing 48 goals and scoring 41.
Blackpool has played 32 matches and is at 14th in the standings after earning 40 points. The club has scored 50 goals and has allowed 47 for a plus-three differential and has won just five of the past 16 away games this season.
