Two teams locked together and looking to get themselves as far away from the relegation zone as possible will battle it out when Newcastle United host Southampton for their English Premier League game Sunday.
Southampton are currently in 15th on 27 points, one place ahead of Newcastle, but equal on points.
The Magpies have shown a lot of improvement since making five signings in January, with the likes of Moussa Sissoko and Mathieu Debuchy blending into their surrounding quickly.
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew believes his players will take the confidence earned from their progress in the Europa League over to the game against the Saints.
"The lads are going to have so much confidence and goodwill to take into the weekend," Pardew said.
"The European competition has been a negative in the early part of the season because we've picked up injuries in it and it's stretched us. But now we're suddenly seeing the flip side of it.
"I was with Andre Villas-Boas on Monday and said to him, 'I'm really not sure about this competition.' But he said, 'Trust me -- you'll love it if you win it.'
"He obviously has (won it, with Porto), so he knows what he's talking about."
Newcastle will not have it easy though, with Southampton still buzzing from their impressive 3-1 win over champions Manchester City in the last round of fixtures. However, Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino is not planning to dwell on that big win.
"We have the same expectations and ambitions," he told the club's official website. "For example we want to go to Newcastle and get the three points. We know that whatever has happened in football in the past doesn't count for anything in the future, so we will keep moving forwards."
Newcastle will have to do without goalkeeper Tim Krul, who could be out for several weeks after sustaining an ankle injury in the Europa League game against Metalist Kharkiv, while Hatem Ben Arfa is also ruled out.
Southampton will welcome back Luke Shaw and Gaston Ramirez, after the duo missed the win over City. Defender Jose Fonte, though is sidelined, while Guly Do Prado is doubtful.
