It'll be the Atlanta Braves vs Washington Nationals at 1 p.m. ET Tuesday afternoon as both teams are set to meet up at Spring Training. It will be a brief preview of the N.L. East battle expected to dominate headlines during the 2013 regular season.
The Braves are coming off their first Spring Training win as they defeated the Miami Marlins 7-6 on a da where they saw two of their young outfielders go back-to-back hitting bombs. Jason Heywardhit a line drive home run to right field and newly acquired Justin Upton sent a mammoth estimated 470-foot moonshot to left field.
This is an exciting sign for the Braves organization and fans as they expect their young talented outfield to create havoc for opponents throughout the season. Their offense is better and their outfield defense is remarkable as they possess speed and great arms.
The Nationals are the defending 2012 N.L East champions and the Braves were just four games behind them in the standings grabbing second place. Washington made improvements to their pitching rotation and their bullpen over the offseason. They added Dan Haren and Rafael Soriano to improve what was already an unstoppable rotation and bullpen.
The Nationals hope their young ace, Stephen Strasburg can remain health in 2013. He will not be limited this upcoming season, so the Nationals are expected to succeed and once again compete for a pennant.
They are coming off a 6-4 victory against the New York Mets. Gio Gonzalez took the mound after a winter that closed out with rumors of PEDs speculations. However, recently, Gonzalez was cleared of any possible links with illegal substances.
Unfortunately for both squads, this game will not be aried on television, so fans will have to stick to radio broadcasts.
The game was delayed due to heavy rain. They are about to start in some time. Don't worry. You haven't missed much of the action.
