Don't miss the action as the NFL Scouting Combine concludes Tuesday morning. Yesterday it was the slower guys, but today it's a little more fun as speedy guys hit the dash.
The linebackers hit the 40-yard dash and ran drills on Monday and Manti Te'o stole the attention, but not because he was amazing, but because he presented himself as just an average guy at the combine.
With coaches from all over the league present and looking on, these guys straight out of college are expected to perform at a high level as the NFL Draft is set to take centerstage in about two months.
Currently, David Amerson of North Carolina State is on top with a 4.38. NFL Network analysts said anything below a 4.5 would be great and Amerson did just that. In second place so far is Terry Hawthorne with a 4.40. Robert Alford is tied third with Dwyane Gratz with a time of 4.41, followed by Johnny Adams who posted a 4.45.
Every guy will receive a chance to run twice and if they mess up, coaches and trainers are their to allow players to restart the run. Aside from this 40-yard dash where guys get to show off their explosiveness and speed, these defensive backs get to show off their strength and agility in multiple drills throughout the morning.
There's a vertical leap and a horizontal jump guys have to do as well as receiving drills that feature how well they can adjust on the field when changing directions and of course, catching the ball and running it back following an interception.
The action is live and it's the last day at the NFL Scouting Combine as these top college athletes look to change their fortune and find a spot on an NFL roster in 2013.
