The New York Rangers and Winnipeg Jets meet up for the first time this season. The Jets are currently looking to close out what has been a very positive five-game road trip where they have won three of four games. The Rangers have hit a skid in their season, starting a four-game homestand after losing three straight games, including four out of five.
Rangers head coach John Tortorella thinks his team is in need of a confidence boast after this recent losing streak. The team is starting to get a handful of players back from injury that may help spark some energy back into the lineup. New York is attempting to avoid the longest losing streak in two years. In 2011, they dropped six games in a row. Defenseman Michael Del Zotto, Dan Girardi and center Darroll Powe are all expected to be back for Tuesday night's game. It is still unknown if Rick Nash and Ryan McDonagh will be returning or not. Nash has missed three straight games with an injury the team is not disclosing at this time. The injuries have forced the Rangers to be one of the league's most disappointing teams this season. They are one point below the playoff cut in the Eastern Conference after winning the conference last season.
There is a quiet confidence with the Jets after winning four of five in their road trip. Andrew Ladd has helped the recent success, scoring three goals and recording two assists during the time away from home. He leads the team with 10 goals and 17 points overall. Blake Wheeler is doing his part, earning 16 points total on the season, getting five in the past three games. Evander Kane has a goal in each of the past three games and could cause the Rangers headaches on Tuesday.
