Arsenal Transfer News: Stevan Jovetic, Mario Gotze Bids to Be Made as Gunners Step Up Interest

Arsenal are ready for a summer of change and have already started preparations to bring in Stevan Jovetic and Mario Gotze to the Emirates next season.

The Gunners announced pre-tax profits of £17.8 million ($27 million) for the half-year ending November, 2012, bulging their cash reserves to a massive £123.3 million ($187.1 million).

So, there is plenty of money to spend for Arsene Wenger in the summer, and his two priority targets are reportedly Fiorentina forward Jovetic and Gotze of Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal are ready to increase their wage ceiling to bring in quality players next season, according to the Daily Mail. And that news certainly bodes well for the Gooners, who are desperate to see some pure quality enter the confines of the Emirates after seeing so many go out in recent seasons.

Jovetic has been linked with a move to Arsenal for quite a while now, and with Fiorentina faltering in their bid to secure a place in the Champions League next season - they are currently in sixth, five points behind third-placed Lazio - the 23-year-old might be finally ready to leave after resisting offers from teams around Europe for the last couple of years.

Former Fiorentina manager Sinisa Mihajlovic said a few days back Jovetic might indeed move at the end of the season.

"I consider Jovetic to be one of the best players in Serie A, but right now he is not playing at his level," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I am no longer in Florence, so I cannot say for sure what the problem is. It's evident he is suffering because of something and if things don't change I think he'll leave at the end of the season.

"Jovetic is a sensitive guy and it's fundamental you know how to deal with him. As with all great champions, he needs to feel important.

"It means giving him responsibility, but also communicating (to him) that he is one of the best."

"Maybe the problem is that he doesn't feel as highly considered as he'd like."

Manchester City are also interested in Jovetic, but have made Edinson Cavani their No.1 target, which could leave Arsenal with a clear run at their man.

Jovetic will cost Arsenal in excess of £20 million ($30 million), but with well over £100 million ($150 million) in cash reserves, that should not be too much of a problem.

Wenger is also ready to bid £30 million ($45 million) for Gotze, who is seen as one of the brightest young talents in Europe.

The Gunners have seen moves for Gotze rejected by Dortmund a few times in the past, but are increasingly confident of finally landing their man this summer, with a lucrative pay package also being prepared for the German international.

However, everything hinges on the fact that Arsenal qualify for the Champions League next season; because without the prospect of playing in Europe's elite competition, even Wenger will find it difficult to persuade two of Europe's top prospects to come to the Emirates.
