New York Jets Trade Rumors: 49ers Want Darrelle Revis?

Everybody knows what the San Francisco 49ers are packing in the upcoming season. Now, rumors are swirling of an interest in trading for the New York Jets' cornerback, Derrelle Revis. With all the picks the 49ers have, thanks to the Alex Smith trade, they will make the "Revis situation" pretty interesting.

The 49ers, according to Yahoo! Sports' Jason Cole, are willing to trade picks for the rights of having Revis on their team in 2013. The 49ers' picks have tallied up to 15 for the 2013 NFL Draft. They are willing to use these picks even if it means acquiring Revis for just one season.

However, the major problem with the 49ers being okay with just one year is that Revis wants to get paid. He's looking for Mario Williams money that would make him not only the highest paid cornerback, but the highest paid defender in the history of the NFL.

Right, some people are probably shaking their heads wondering what Revis is thinking. He's coming off a knee injury and hasn't had a chance to prove to anybody that he's healthy enough to be the same shutdown corner he was before the injury. For the deal to come a reality, both the Jets and Revis would have to agree to the move.

If Revis is smart, he wouldn't worry about the money right now, unless something is truly wrong with his knee. If healthy, Revis could use the stage of the 49ers as a way to raise his price tag. There is no doubt the 49ers are built to win a Super Bowl with the talent and young they possess in their lineup.

One thing the 49ers have to worry about is signing their own young stars like Colin Kaepernick and Michael Crabtree, which is why they wouldn't sign Revis long-term.

It seems this could be a great deal for the Jets as they could get as much as a second-round pick for Revis. Let's face it, though Revis is an excellent player, unless the Jets do major rebuilding, they are not a championship caliber team. Letting Revis go elsewhere could rid them of the drama they are set to face as they are currently looking for answers at the quarterback position.

Stay tuned Sports World Report as we will keep you posted will all that goes down in the Revis and Jets offseason.
