Philadelphia Eagles Rumors: Nnamdi Asomugha Ate Lunch In Car Alone During 2012 Season, Chip Kelly To Cut Cornerback? (PHOTO)

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha ate lunch in his car along by himself during practices last season rather than with teammates and the rest of the team, says sources that spoke to WIP Radio.

According to ESPN.com, sources told Hollis Thomas at WIP Radio that the high-priced cornerback decided to eat in his car alone away from his teammates to get some "me time" during the season. Thomas played for the Eagles from 1996 to 2005 and reported the information on Tuesday.

Asomugha has been in the news lately for the Eagles asking him to restructure his contract or be released, which league sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Asomugha signed a huge five-year, $60 million contract and was part of the "Dream Team" brought in to the Eagles in 2011 that ended up 8-8 and out of the playoffs.

Chip Kelly and the Eagles have been moving on from that "Dream Team", including by cutting lineman Cullen Jenkins on Monday after also signing him to a big deal in 2011 as well. The team met with Asomugha on Friday at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis to talk about his deal, which will pay him $15 million next season, including $4 million in guaranteed money.

The report said that Asomugha would isolate himself and eat along outside the Novacare complex during the 2012 season.

The 31-year-old cornerback came to the team after three Pro Bowl seasons with the Oakland Raiders from 2003 to 2010, but has since been a disappointment, not playing up to his contract. He was once considered one of the top cover corners in the league, but after two tough years the Eagles are looking for a way out of the contract, which is why they asked him to restructure.

The Eagles went just 8-8 in 2011 and went 4-12 last season, missing the playoffs again and forcing the team to fire longtime head coach Andy Reid. Asomugha was expected to combine with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to form one of the best cornerback tandems in football, but instead the team struggled in passing coverage and gave up over 200 yards per game.

The team lost 11 of 12 games at one point during the season and Asomugha made just one interception during 2012 and four total during his two years with the Eagles.
