Former WNBA Star Chamique Holdsclaw Indicted For Shooting Incident With Ex-Girlfriend, Facing Up To 65 Years In Prison

Former WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw was indicted on six counts by a Fulton (Ga.) County grand jury on Wednesday in relation to a November incident that resulted in her arrest.

In November Holdsclaw was arrested after a violent incident involving an ex-girlfriend according to Rachel George from USA Today:

Holdsclaw, 35, faces two counts of aggravated assault, one count of criminal damage in the first degree, two counts of criminal damage in the second degree and one count of possession of a firearm in commission of a felony.

A warrant was issued for her arrest following a violent altercation on Nov. 13 with Jennifer Lacy, her ex-girlfriend. According to police, Holdsclaw fired a pistol into a vehicle while Lacy was in it.

Holdsclaw turned herself in three days later and was released on $100,000 bond.

"We're still working with the DA's office in Fulton County," Holdsclaw's attorney, Patrick Sullivan, told USA TODAY Sports Wednesday, adding that he could not comment further at this time.

According to TMZ.com, Holdsclaw could face up to 65 years in prison if found guilty on all six counts.

Holdsclaw was once discussed as an athlete who could bring women's basketball into the mainstream, but failed to show up for one of her games in 2004 and suddenly retired in 2007 despite impressive, if not landscape-altering, play. In an autobiography released last March, Holdsclaw revealed that she suffered from clinical depression and had even attempted suicide.

As this case continues to play out in the coming months, her future, as of now, is very uncertain.
