Darrelle Revis Trade Rumors: Richard Sherman Calls New York Jets Cornerback Irrelevant On Radio, Comments About Rumored San Francisco Deal

Richard Sherman and Darrelle Revis are arguably the two best cornerbacks in the NFL and that has caused some tension between the two players this offseason, which is one reason why the Seattle Seahawks star took to 710 ESPN in Seattle on Thursday to talk about his counterpart.

According to Deadspin.com, Sherman joined the radio station and spoke in an interview about his past season with the Seahawks as well as the rumors and news that the San Francisco 49ers, a Seattle division rival, is interested in acquiring Revis from the Jets.

Sherman was asked about his thoughts on Revis coming to the 49ers and how it would be to play against him twice every year head-to-head. Sherman and the Seahawks matched up against the Jets in New York this season, winning 28-7, but Revis was not playing in the game after suffering a season-ending knee injury earlier in the year.

"It'd be fun either way. There's always a rivalry there. I still wouldn't get to play against him directly, so it really wouldn't matter to me. I'm sure our receivers would have a little fun with him. I don't mind either way. He's really irrelevant in my mind," Sherman said on the radio about Revis.

The two cornerbacks went at it on Twitter recently, with Revis responding to some trash talk Sherman wrote online, including insults he wrote during the Super Bowl. Revis and Sherman went back and forth, with the Jets cornerback stating his dominance over the Seattle corner.

"I've never seen a man before run his mouth so much like a girl," Revis wrote on Twitter. "This dude just steady putting my name in his mouth to get notoriety. Sit down young pup and wait your turn."

Sherman was asked on the radio show about his Twitter fight with Revis and how he uses smack talk on the field to enrage opponents.

"I mean, it's a little bit of both, you just kind of want to win the game. Whatever it takes to win the game is kind of my mindset. You go in there and if it's getting them guys in their head ... I'm just trying to win the game, whatever it takes," Sherman said.

The Seahawks star was asked about Seattle's offseason moves and transactions and whether he concerns himself with personnel needs.

"No, not really, because nobody out there knows but our front office what is really going to happen. So all of that is just going to change. ... There's no reason to read any of that. If I want to know any of that, I'll just call our people," Sherman said.

The Seahawks have not done much yet this offseason, but the major move is expected to be the trade of backup Matt Flynn, who signed a free agent contract before last season. Russell Wilson beat out the former Packers backup for the starting job in training camp and led the team to the playoffs where they defeated the Washington Redskins in the first round.

Sherman was asked about his favorite moment of the 2012 season, a year that saw the Seahawks improve to 11-5 and have the sixth ranked passing defense in the league.

"I guess the run we made at the end. The last couple games we were on a nice run, had a nice streak. Everybody seemed to have found their confidence and rhythm. It was a good time in the locker room," Sherman said.

The cornerback was also asked about Wilson and his breakout victory against the Chicago Bears.

"Well, I mean, we kind of had already had believed. Around that time, he'd already beaten the Packers, Patriots, Cowboys. He had already proven himself in our eyes. Great play merits respect. You have to respect the guy. The way he works, the way he studies, the way he prepares, the way he plays, he attained our respect," Sherman said.

Sherman was one of the top cornerbacks in the league and made eight interceptions while being named to his first All-Pro team.
