McIlroy Denies Breakup With Caroline Wozniacki After Quitting At Honda Classic, Golf Star Rory Prepares For WGC-Cadillac Invitational With Tiger Woods

Following his walking off the course and quitting at the Honda Classic last week, Rory McIlroy denied on Wednesday that it had anything to do with a breakup with his girlfriend, tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.

According to the New York Post, the number one ranked golfer denied that it had to do with his girlfriend and said that it was a mistake to quit. McIlroy has been struggling mightily this season since changing over to Nike clubs and he quit at Honda after shooting a horrible half round.

After the two did not contact each other on Twitter for a while, speculation started flying, which the golfer fully denied.

"I've read what's been written, and just because I have a bad day on the golf course and Caroline loses a match in Malaysia it doesn't mean that we're breaking up,'' McIlroy said. "It's sport. Look, I'd rather keep my private life as private as possible, but everything on that front is great and I'm looking forward to seeing her next week when she gets to Miami.''

The news gained steam after a cryptic Tweet by the golfer on Twitter, which said "For every complex problem, there is a simple solution. #FTB."

"It's a little private joke between friends," McIlroy said. "It's something I probably can't divulge on live TV."

Later he got a response from Ronan Keating: "Well @McIlroyRory seems our little tweet caused a stir ha ha. #FTB"

McIlroy later spoke to reporters and said that he regretted leaving the course. He missed the cut at Abu Dhabi and also was eliminated in the first round of match play before the Honda Classic incident.

"Obviously had a lot of time to think about it," McIlroy said. "I realized pretty quickly that it wasn't the right thing to do. No matter how bad I was playing, I should have stayed out there."
