Miami Heat Win Streak Makes them Automatic Favorite to Win Championship?

The Miami Heat are on a roll. There's no other team this hot in the league and they are on the verge of history with every win. As the Heat have gotten everything together in the last two months of the season, is this a sign that the Heat are going to repeat as NBA champions?

Let's look at one thing that's pretty scary. On Sunday, the Heat won without the usual heavy reliance on the possible 2013 MVP, LeBron James. They faced their fierce Eastern Conference rival, Indiana Pacers and defeated them 105-91. James only scored 13 points in the game while adding seven assists, six rebounds, one steal and a block.

Despite the stat filling performance, the night was all about the other big three. Wait? What other big three? Instead of James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh, it was Wade, Bosh and Mario Chalmers. Chalmers finished the game with 26 points for a game-high after shooting 5-6 from beyond the arc. Wade added 23 points and finished with a whopping six steals. Bosh had 24 points along with three blocks.

Imagine if James had scored and played a big part in this game? They would have made the third place in the Eastern Conference Pacers look like the New Orleans Hornets. The Heat are gelling and it doesn't matter who is cold, there's always another body to pick up the slack.

Looking at this team in a great run at the end of the season must be intimidating for other ball clubs. It seems like only the New York Knicks have had success against the Heat this season and in their last matchup they let that one get away.

When further analyzing their schedule, if they get past the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday, then they next true challenge the Heat will have are the Chicago Bulls at the end of the month.

Can the Heat complete a 27-game win streak and possibly roll over the Bulls and go into San Antonio with a chance to make it 30 straight?

We can focus on regular season streaks, but the question then becomes, can anybody in the east compete against them? Once in the NBA Finals, can any team compete against them in a seven-game series?

The Heat have length, they have outside shooters while LeBron and Wade fuel the fastbreak while also having the ability to penetrate any defense.

Many are already comparing them to the Los Angeles Lakers that won 33 games in a row in 1971-1972 and eventually won the championship. When a team is on a roll like this, it's difficult to defeat their confidence and that's one thing about the Heat, they are a super talented group made dangerous because of their confidence.

The Heat will be looking to make their third consecutive NBA Finals appearance and look forward to playing for their second consecutive trophy. With the Heat rolling, is there any team that can stand in their way now in the regular season and in the playoffs?
