Wrestler Throws Medal In Garbage After Second Place Finish At Big Ten Wrestling Tournament, Iowa Athlete Tosses Away Prize (PHOTO)

A second-place finish was not good enough for one Iowa wrestler, as he decided to throw away his trophy after being the runner-up at the Big Ten Tournament.

According to WQAD.com, Iowa senior Matt McDonough tossed away his medal after being defeated by Illinois wrestler Jesse Delgado. According to the Daily Iowan the move was due to frustration, as Delgado was the only wrestler to defeat McDonough two times after taking the match 10-4.

Later the medal was found in the garbage. @SamLouwagie wrote on Twitter with a photo of the medal: "This is the 2nd place 125 pound Big Ten trophy. We found it in the garbage"

McDonough did not speak to reporters after the match and was only happy once he tossed the medal. According to SB Nation, Delgado was able to use his legs to an advantage and earned points against McDonough after he could not counter his attacks.
