Lindsey Vonn Wins World Cup Downhill Title Without Racing Since Scary Knee Injury, Tiger Woods And Olympian Still Dating?

Lindsey Vonn has had quite the interesting year after tearing up her knee in Austria a few weeks ago and things have continued to stay that way for the Olympian, as she took home her sixth straight World Cup downhill title despite not racing.

According to the Associated Press, Vonn retained the title after an event was cancelled due to the weather, giving her the win by just one point over overall World Cup champion Tina Maze, who has been dealing with death threats since her last race. Vonn tore up her knee in Austria but is not expected to miss the winter Olympics next year.

"Omg I won the World Cup Downhill title!!!!! 6 in a row with a bum knee!" Vonn wrote on her Facebook page.

Vonn was on the winning end of the situation this tie, but two years ago she lost after a race was cancelled by three points to Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany.

"Everything in life comes back around," wrote Vonn, whose title streak is a downhill record in 47 seasons of men's and women's World Cup racing.

Maze had the chance to win five titles in one season, with an overall title and four disciplines, but instead she gave up the title to Vonn.

"I guess the DH globe belongs to someone else, Congratulation Lindsey! What goes around comes around!" wrote Maze, who already won the overall title with a record point total.

Maze still has the chance to take the Super-G title this season, as she has a 55-point leading heading into the next race, which rewards the winner with 100 points. Fog made the International Ski Federation cancel the event that gave Vonn the win and now she has 17 crystal globes, which is a record.

Vonn has only races in five of the seven downhill events and won twice in Alberta after dealing with a stomach virus issue.

"Coming back from that and then going to Lake Louise and pulling off those wins was very, very impressive," said Alex Hoedlmoser, the U.S. women's team head coach. "It's really cool to see actually that she's going to get the reward with the globe."

Vonn has been romantically linked with Tiger Woods this year as well.
