Liverpool are planning a busy summer, with the latest to be linked to the club being Victor Wanyama and Diego Capel.
Brendan Rodgers has admitted he will look to bring in three-four new faces at the end of the season, and the manager has identified the Celtic midfielder Wanyama as a target.
Liverpool have sent scouts extensively over the past few weeks to take a look at the powerful defensive midfielder playing for Celtic, and Rodgers is now considering making a move for the 21-year-old, according to the Daily Mail.
The Reds will, however, face stiff competition for the youngster's signature, with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City also showing a keen interest.
Wanyama is thought to be one of Arsene Wenger's No.1 defensive midfield targets, while Sir Alex Ferguson sees the Kenyan international as a possible addition to beef up his midfield.
Liverpool currently only have one pure defensive midfielder in Lucas Leiva, and Rodgers could also use with a physical presence in the middle of the park.
Celtic are reluctant to sell one of their best players, but their hand might be forced by the fact that Wanyama, who can also play as a central defender, has refused to sign a new contract.
Meanwhile, the Anfield club are also being linked with Sporting Lisbon playmaker Diego Capel.
The Spaniard is not having a great season with the Portuguese club at the moment and could be made available in the summer, as Sporting look to reduce some of their ever-increasing debts, according to Tutto Mercato.
Rodgers is reportedly keeping a close eye on developments and could be poised to make a move, if the two clubs can agree on a reasonable transfer fee.
Capel made a name for himself while playing in the La Liga for Sevilla, during which he earned two caps for Spain.
