Okay, so it's not the spicy New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox matchup we got spoiled watching in the early 2000's, but they will face off in Spring Training at 1 p.m. ET. Check out the live stream of the ball game which will allow you to watch the game from work.
The Yankees and Red Sox might be the last teams in the standings in 2013. Who knows what the Baltimore Orioles, Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays will bring in the new season, however, they are healthier than the Yankees and the Red Sox simply were trying to put a team on the field this season.
The Yankees' roster is absolutely depleted. With no young starts to enter the major league level and their veterans on the shelf, the Yankees will have to depend on great pitching and a few plug-ins to produce and give them a chance to remain in the race until they are once again healthy.
Robinson Cano is the only 30-plus home run hitter in their lineup entering the season and the good news is that he raked in the World Baseball Classic. With Derek Jeter suffering a slight setback, Ichiro will have to man the top of the order. Kevin Youkilis should be a decent third baseman, but the Yanks might need to move him to first now.
The Red Sox tried rebuilding and focusing on small contracts. They acquired guys like Joel Hanharan, Shane Victorino, Mike Napoli and Ryan Dempster.
Without a doubt, as many players left the Yankees, the Red Sox had the better winter. You don't win baseball during the winter though, so it will be interesting to see how good the Yankees can be and if the Red Sox can bring winning back to Boston.
