The No. 11 Butler Bulldogs refused to be upset in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Though they struggled from the floor, they managed to pull out the victory defeating the Bucknell Bisons 65-54.
Rotnei Clarke finished the night as the leading scorer for the Bulldogs. He scored 16 points going a perfect 4-4 from the line despite having a miserable night from the floor shooting 5-14. Also helping him out with more decent numbers, Roosevelt Jones, who scored 14 points going 6-12 from the floor. He also finished the game with four assists and five rebounds. Speaking of rebounds, Butler's center, Andrew Smith finished with a double-double scoring 10 points and grabbing 16 rebounds in the game.
Butler was very economic on their turnovers, which eventually kept them above float, despite trailing halfway in the second half. They only committed four turnovers, while forcing nine out of Bucknell.
The turning point in this game came with 10:31 remaining in the game and Bucknell leading 37-31. Butler took a timeout and proceeded to take the lead in the game following an 8-0 run that was capped with a Smith three.
Bucknell totally lost momentum as they were coming off an 11-0 run of their own to take what looked to be the breath out of Butler, but this wasn't the case.
Both teams briefly exchanged leads, but after the 7:30 mark following a Bucknell turnover, Butler proceeded to take command of the game and eventually blowing it open after going on a 10-0 run that stretched for over four minutes.
Next up on the table for Butler will be either Marquette Golden Eagles or Davidson Wildcats.
