Fukudome and Chicago White Sox Sign 1-Year Contract

Outfielder Kosuke Fukudome came back to Chicago White Sox when he agreed to a $1 million, one-year contract. For the last four years, Fukudome was with Cubs in a $48 million, four-year contract.

Fukudome hit .262 with eight homers, 27 doubles, 35 RBIs and .342 on-base percentage in 146 games in last season.In his four seasons in the majors, he is a .260 hitter with 42 homers, 191 RBIs and a .361 on-base percentage.

A 2008 All-Star, Fukudome is a left-handed hitter who is considered to be able to play center and right.

"We're not looking for this guy to come in and completely change his approach," White Sox assistant manager Rick Hahn said. "We just want him to be the player he's proven to be over the last four years."
