Kyle Lohse Rumors He's Heading to the Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers and Kyle Lohse reached an agreement as the veteran right-hander will now pitch for the St. Louis Cardinals' rivals in the 2013 season. After the possible conclusion of the 2013 Spring Training, Scott Boras, Lohse and the Brewers came to an accord and one of the more dominant hurlers of 2012 will finally have a home.

It's a three-year deal worth around $30 million. As expected, Lohse and Boras waited until the last minute to sign with an MLB club. You would think Lohse was not bad at all in 2012 after taking so long to sign a deal, but there were certain factors which avoided a move to be made earlier in the offseason.

Firstly, yes, he's a Boras client. Secondly, which the Brewers will have to acknowledge, anybody who signed Lohse would have to give up a first-round draft pick since the pitcher was a top class free agent. His numbers had nothing to do with it, but the fact that he's 34 and injury prone also got in the way of many teams stepping up and offering a deal.

2012 was Lohse's best season hands down. He might have won a World Series in 2011, but he pitched line an ace and Cy Young Award winner in 2012. He came seventh in the race after posting a 16-3, .842 winning percentage and starting 33 games for the Cardinals. He pitched a career-high 211 innings. He began the season on the mound for the Cardinals and got them further into the playoffs as he got the red birds past the Atlanta Braves in the first ever N.L. Wild Card Game.

In the past two seasons, Lohse totaled a 30-11 record with a 3.11 ERA and averaged just about 200 innings while striking out a total of 254 batters.

Lohse will join an undefined Brewers' starting rotation topped Yovani by Gallardo and Chris Narveson. Wily Peralta, the soon to be 24-year-old looks to make a roster spot and the fifth starter has yet to be decided.
