The Syracuse had a strong showing in the Big East tournament and they took that momentum with them to March Madness, as the fourth-seeded Orange took down Indiana on Thursday night to advance to the Elite Eight.
According to ESPN.com, Syracuse was able to use its 2-3 zone to shut down the Hoosiers and Cody Zeller and used 24 points from Michael Carter-Williams to take done President Obama's pick for the national championship. The Hoosiers were one of the highest scoring teams in the nation this year, but the Orange held them to a season-low scoring output with tough defense.
The two teams last faced off in an NCAA tournament game that saw Indiana the national title on a last-second shot, but this time Syracuse got the last laugh and will now face off against number three seeded Marquette on Saturday in the Elite Eight. The Golden Eagles defeated Miami 71-61 on Thursday to advance, while the Orange previously lost to Marquette during the regular season in Februay.
The Orange win and advance to the next round with a sin over Marquette and will face off against the winner of Kansas-Michigan and Florida-Florida Gulf Coast after those winners face off.
