April is here and that means NBA playoffs at the end of the month. Check out the standings as the Los Angeles Lakers appear to be in trouble with the Utah Jazz smooth sailing and the New York Knicks, though the hottest team in basketball, can't get past the Indiana Pacers. Check out where your team lies in the NBA Playoff Standings.
The Lakers are scuffling at the wrong time, while the Jazz are peaking when it matters most. The Lakers are 38-36, but the Jazz have won five straight games and with a victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, Utah took over the eighth seed for the final playoff spot in the standings and have a record of 39-36.
The Lakers, meanwhile, have to battle as they have only eight games remaining on their schedule and five of their eight opponents are above .500 in the season, so their season is in jeopardy. Next up on their schedule they once again face the Dallas Mavericks, who are just 1.5 games behind them in the Western Conference standings. This game is important for both teams.
Check out the Western Conference standings as of Wednesday at 12 p.m. ET.
Over in the East, there is a battle at the top of the standings that's making things quite exciting. The Indiana Pacers and the New York Knicks keeping flipping positions. The Pacers take the second seed one day. When they are idle, the Knicks step up and take over the the two spot.
Currently, the Knicks are the hottest team in the NBA. They are winners of eight straight games. J.R. Smith is an active part of the offense and though injured, the Knicks are finding ways to win. The difference between the Knicks and the Pacers' record is simply percentage points. The Knicks have one more win and one more loss, while the Pacers have one less win and loss, giving them the higher winning percentage.
Everything else in the East is far from set. The Brooklyn Nets are struggling and just 1.5 games separates the No. 4 and No. 6 seeds. Nobody is catching up to the Miami Heat, we know that for sure and it looks as though the Milwaukee Bucks will be the No. 8 seed in the East.
Here's what the Eastern Conference looks like.
