Zlatan Ibrahimovic has asked Wayne Rooney to join him at Paris Saint Germain, saying he would be a part of the "best project" in the sport.
The Swedish striker, who scored a goal against Barcelona in the Champions League quarterfinals Tuesday, is having a stellar season for the French club after joining them from AC Milan in the summer, as part of a blockbuster double deal which also saw Thiago Silva make a move to Paris.
David Beckham is the latest to join the ever-growing superstars at PSG, and Ibrahimovic believes Rooney would fit right in.
"If he wants to be part of the best project in football then there is only one club to sign for," Ibrahimovic told The Sun.
"Only he knows the decision he is going to make in the summer but the project we are trying to build here is clear.
"We are not content with being the dominant force in France, we want to be the top club in Europe as well.
"I can understand why the owners are interested in Rooney -- he is in the top 10 of strikers in Europe."
Rooney has been the subject of much speculation, ever since he was controversially dropped from the starting lineup against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
While Sir Alex Ferguson has vehemently denied he is looking to offload Rooney in the summer, reports have ceased to stop, with several clubs, including PSG, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich reportedly showing an interest.
The French club's president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently expressed his admiration for the player, but said they had not made any official bid.
"Rooney's a great player, one of the best strikers in the world," he told Sky Sports. "Everybody would like to have him.
"I think everyone would like to have him but if you want to talk about the fact, we didn't approach him."
Meanwhile, United have joined the list of interested clubs looking to make a summer move for Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean international is far from first choice at the Camp Nou, and has been linked with a move away at the end of the season.
United are reportedly keeping tabs on Sanchez, who can also play out wide as a winger, but the English Premier League champions-elect will face stiff competition from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Juventus and Inter Milan.
