Seattle Seahawks Rumors: Tim Tebow Trade Deal Out As Backup While Team Wants Matt Leinart or Brady Quinn? Antoine Winfield Visits With Redskins Interested

The Seattle Seahawks have been one of the most interesting teams during the offseason, as the franchise has made a number of trades and signings that show they are serious about a Super Bowl run and one more might be in store as the team welcomes cornerback Antoine Winfield in for a visit.

According to Pro Football Talk, Winfield is expected to visit the team as a free agent this week and could add depth to the roster behind starters Brandon Browner and Richard Sherman, who are considered the best cornerback duo in the league. Winfield is a veteran and he has played cornerback on the slot for most of the past two years and that is what he would likely be doing in Seattle.

Winfield has had interest from the Redskins after being cut from the Vikings, but after the team signed DeAngelo Hall, chances are he will not go there. The Vikings have expressed interest in bringing him back after releasing him due to the salary cap, but so far neither side has been able to come to an agreement. The Seahawks would add to an already strong secondary with the two cornerbacks and safety Earl Thomas and Winfield could add even more depth.

The 35-year-old was set to make $7.25 million next season which is why the Vikings cut him and the number one ranked scoring defense in the league would only get better in Seattle with Winfield in the mix. Minnesota cut him since they like Chris Cook and Josh Robinson, but there is a chance they will want the veteran back in the fold.

Winfield is a former Pro Bowler and one of the best slot cover men in the league and he also does an excellent job against the run and he made three interceptions last season. Winfield has been fairly durable in Minnesota and played in all 16 games in three of the past five seasons and he previously played in Buffalo where he was one of the team's best corners.

Seattle has been making moves all offseason with the trade for Percy Harvin and the trade of Matt Flynn to the Oakland Raiders and the team is still in the market for a backup quarterbacks and one name that came up was Tim Tebow. Although the team said they were not interested, there is a chance it still could happen, as the team is looking at Seneca Wallace, Tyler Thigpen and Matt Leinart as backup options.

Flynn originally signed a three year deal, but Russell Wilson beat him out for the starting job, making him expendable. The team is also looking at Brady Quinn and there is a chance Pete Carroll could make an out of the box move at the position.
