Tim Tebow Rumors: New York Jets To Have Quarterback Workout If Not Cut, Seattle Seahawks Trade Off As Team Looks At Buffalo Bills Or Release?

Tim Tebow was mentioned in some trade rumors over the weekend with the Seattle Seahawks, but since the team was never truly serious about making a move for him as a backup for Russell Wilson, the New York Jets must decide what to do with Tebow as offseason workouts approach.

According to the New York Post, the Jets' voluntary workout program in the offseason begins next week and sources said that Tebow will report to the workout as long as he is on the roster. The team could still cut him by then, but if he remains on the roster, sources said that he will be present for the offseason program. The Jets have been shopping Tebow all offseason and despite some interesting fits with the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills, no deal has been made.

There is a chance that the team will try to trade Tebow on draft day later in the month, but they may also decide to release him before then. The team acquired Tebow a little over a year ago for draft picks and the team never figured out a proper way to use him behind Mark Sanchez. He was barely on the field and when he was used, he made the most of it, rushing for 102 yards and passing for 39, although he scored zero touchdowns.

Tebow was a good soldier for most of the season, but he became visibly frustrated when the team went to Greg McElroy instead of him late in the season. He was used on some special packages, but Rex Ryan never gave him any consistent playing time. The offseason workouts for the Jets start on Monday and there is a chance that he could be released so he does not have to deal with the workout, but the Jets will likely hold on to him to see if they can get something for him.

The Seahawks situation could have been interesting, as Pete Carroll has shown his willingness to think outside the box and Tebow may have been able to thrive since there would be no chance of him starting over Russell Wilson. Although the trade seems a bit crazy, the Seahawks could benefit from the addition of Tebow and could add the facet of offense that the Jets tried and failed to do last season.

The team is primed for a Super Bowl run and having a player with the determination and hard work ethic of Tebow could permeate through their roster and make the team even better. The Seahawks traded Matt Flynn top the Raiders, leaving them with no backup for Wilson and the team is currently looking at Tyler Thigpen, Matt Leinart and Brady Quinn.
