Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: Can They Make The Playoffs? Kobe Bryant Weighs In On Their Chances, Discusses New Nickname For Metta World Peace

The Los Angeles Lakers are battling to stay in the mix of the Western Conference playoff picture, and are playing with a lot of uncertainty about what the future holds.

As of now the Utah Jazz are a half a game ahead of the Lakers and hold their fate in their hands having hold on the tiebreaker in case each team finishes with the same record. If Utah manages to win their remaining games in the season, it wouldn't matter what the Lakers did, they would be out.

If the Lakers have any chances they would need the Jazz to lose at least one more game this season to ensure the Lakers opportunity to reclaim the final spot in the playoffs.

Lakers star guard Kobe Bryant spoke with the Los Angeles Daily News about the team's playoff chances moving forward.

We don't know what the hell's going to happen," Kobe Bryant said. "The way I figure, we put four together and no (bleeping) way we're losing the last game. No way.

"So we'll just put four together then deal with the last one when we get to it."

Injuries have been a major crutch to the Lakers this season, most recent being forward Metta World Peace and veteran guard Steve Nash.

Although World Peace was initially expected to miss six weeks with a left knee injury, new reports suggest he'll be back earlier than anticipated, maybe even by the weekend.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Bryant is very impressed by World Peace's recovery time and has dubbed the defensive forward from Queens, NY a new heroic nickname.

"I call him 'Logan' now," Bryant said, referring to a comic book superhero. "He's Wolverine, man, that's who he is."

The Lakers and Jazz both have games tonight, and if things work out in their favor, the Lakers may be able to creep back into the final playoff spot.

The Jazz will have tough competition tonight against the Oklahoma City Thunder, while the Lakers host the New Orleans Hornets.
