It'll be the ageless Andy Pettitte versus Carlos Carrasco, who spent the 2012 season away from baseball. Last season, Pettitte's great start was cut short after a line drive broke his left ankle. It was bad timing for Pettitte who was cruising through his first 12 starts of the season going 5-4 with a 2.87 ERA.
So far this season, Pettitte is 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA. The Cleveland players have hit him well, but the only player to have produced runs was Mike Aviles who's hitting .333 with an RBI in nine at-bats. Asdrubal Cabrera is 2-5 in his career, while Kason Kipnis is 1-2. Mark Reynolds and Drew Stubbs are hitting .333 hitting 2-6 against Pettitte.
Carrasca hasn't been hit too hard, but the Yankees lineup is a bit more productive. Kevin Youkilis is 2-4 with an RBI, Lyle Overbay also has an RBI in two at-bats. Robinson Cano will look forward to building on his two-homer performance on Monday and he's hitting .500 in six at bats off Carrasco. These numbers reflect the 1-1 career record Carrasco has against the Yankees where he's record 10 strikeouts in 11 innings pitched but is sporting a 4.91 ERA.
