Manchester United Transfer News: Rooney to PSG a Done Deal, Or Is He Staying Long-Term at Old Trafford? Contrasting Reports Emerge over Forward's Future

Contrasting reports emerged Monday about the future of Wayne Rooney with Manchester United, with some claiming the England international's move to Paris Saint Germain in the summer was a done deal, while others said Rooney would reject offers and pursue a long-term contract to remain at Old Trafford.

Rooney has been the subject of speculation ever since he was dropped for that Champions League last-16 second leg game against Real Madrid at Old Trafford.

While Sir Alex Ferguson has insisted there is no way, the 27-year-old will be allowed to leave the club, reports have continued over an impending move.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently expressed his admiration for the forward, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva have implored Rooney to join the club at the end of the season.

Now, PSG's former sports advisor Michel Moulin, who also owns French publication Le 10 Sport, claimed on French TV, that the move for Rooney to the capital club has already been agreed.

"I announce to you from trusted sources: Rooney to PSG is done," he said.

"He will be at PSG next season."

However, the Telegraph claims, citing sources close to the player, that Rooney has no intention of leaving the club, and wants to be a United player well into his 30s, and is ready to negotiate a new deal in the summer.

Now, only time will tell, which story turns out to be true, although the latter at the moment looks more likely, even if there might be a change as the summer transfer window approaches.

If indeed, Rooney's transfer, believed to be for a fee of around £25 million ($38 million), does move forward, then the Radamel Falcao to United rumors will certainly gather pace.

Ferguson recently laughed off Spanish newspaper Marca's report which said United had already as food as sealed a deal for the Colombian. But there could yet be more to that story as well, as the Rooney saga continues unabated.
