The Yankees won the first game of the series behind Ivan Nova. On Wednesday, C.C. Sabathia came in and shut down the Diamondbacks despite struggling early on in the game. He was rescued by late game heroics by the Yankees, something they have grown accustomed to doing throughout the years. For the Diamondbacks, they have flashbacks of 2001. Though this is a completely different team, it seems like once again the D'Backs can't win a game in New York, or at least in Yankee Stadium.

On the mound today for both teams, Phil Hughes takes the ball while the D'Backs send youngster, Patrick Corbin to the mound. By the numbers, Arizona has the advantage. Corbin is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA so far in two starts this season. He shutdown the Milwaukee Brewers in his first start of the season following by a six-inning shutout of the Los Angeles Dodgers in his last game.

The Yankees can't say the same about Hughes. Hughes has pitched seven innings of baseball in 2013, while giving up eight runs on 17 hits good (or bad) for a a 10.29 ERA. The D'backs have only scored five runs this series, so it seems like Hughes and the Yankees can catch a break.

New York has been surprising many around the world of baseball. They are 8-5 just 1.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox. Meanwhile, the Diamondbacks are battling in the N.L. West, one of the toughest divisions in baseball and home of the 2012 champion San Francisco Giants. The D'Backs are in second place behind the surprising Colorado Rockies.
