The Lakers are cold from the floor. Have knocked down consecutive shots so far to make i 9-6 Spurs.

The Los Angeles Lakers travel to Texas to take on the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the NBA playoffs. Game time is here and it's time to see if the Lakers are really about winning as the Spurs look to continue proving that they are the perfect combination of veteran leadership and young talent.

For both teams, they will have stars out on the floor that aren't 100 percent. No matter how hard Coach Gregg Popovich has tried to keep his players healthy, Manu Ginobili is a chronically plagued by injuries as Tony Parker is also suffering from injuries late in the season. As for the Lakers, enough can't be said about how much they miss Kobe Bryant. They are finding ways to win, but they will need to bringit all together in the first round of the playoffs.

For the Spurs, it seems like the one player they can't afford to get injured is Tim Duncan, who seems to never slow down. In2013, Duncan averaged just over 17 points, close to 10 rebounds and three blocks per game. Duncan has been playing since the days of David Robinson making him a 16-year veteran and not to mention he's a four-time champion.

As for the opposition, Dwight Howard would love to finish his career with four NBA Finals rings, however, nobody knows where exactly he will make that happen in after 2013. The Lakers seem to be the only team able ot give Howard big money and with Bryant possibly out for the beginning of the season, the Lakers need a superstar and a face to their franchise, which can be filled in by Howard.

Now, in 2012-2013, the Lakers were 45-37, meanwhile the Spurs were 58-24. The Spurs were 35-6 at home while the Lakers went 15-26 on the road. It will be interesting to see how motivated the Spurs come out in this matchup.
