Chicago Bears Draft Rumors: Tim Tebow Option Out As Team Works Mike Glennon Ahead of First Round With Tyler Eifert and D.J. Fluker Targets

The Chicago Bears still need to add a solid backup quarterback behind starter Jay Cutler and while some feel that Tim Tebow could be an option with new head coach Marc Trestman, the team has turned its interests to the NFL draft that begins on Thursday and to quarterback Mike Glennon.

According to NFL.com, the Bears are looking at Glennon ahead of the draft and will give him a workout on Tuesday before the first round to see how much they like the starter from North Carolina State. The Bears have only five picks in the draft, but they have a first and second rounder and that could be enough to snag Glennon as a possible future passer and one that can backup Cutler.

Some have linked Tebow to the Bears only if he gets released, as he previously worked with Marc Trestman and could be a solid backup since there is no chance he would be starting over Cutler anyway. He could be a chance of pace option for the Bears, while Cutler also is injury prone due to his concussions.

Glennon is considered to have one of the best arms in the draft and he is a very tall quarterback with deep field ability like Cutler. Glennon is thought of by many experts as the most pro-ready of the quarterbacks in the draft and if Cutler doesn't get things done this season there is a chance that the Bears will move on. The team has Josh McCown and the Matt Blanchard on the roster but that doesn't breed much confidence and the team would like to add another name into the mix, more likely Glennon over Tebow.

Greg Cosell sees Glennon as the best passer in the draft and feels that he is better than Ryan Nassib and Geno Smith due to his arm strength and mobility in the pocket as well as confidence when throwing the ball. The Bears have just five picks and four in the top 153, but they made a number of additions in the offseason with DJ Williams and Martellus Bennett, so they can handle not having some picks. Other options for the team include DJ Fluker as well as Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert, who is likely a first round pick but could slide into the second round where the Bears pick 20th.
