The series between the Nuggets and Warriors features two high scoring teams and the first game did not disappoint and each will try to replicate that again on Tuesday as Golden State visits the Pepsi Center to take on Denver in game two of the first round of the western Conference playoffs.
The Warriors lost 97-95 in the opening game and Stephen Curry did not have his best shooting day from the floor, leaving Denver to take game one and the advantage. The Nuggets have a ridiculous home court advantage after losing just three games all season at the Pepsi Center and they will try to win on Tuesday to take a 2-0 advantage out West to California for game three.
The Warriors will be relying on Curry even more after David Lee suffered a hip flexor injury and he now will be out for the rest of the playoffs. Curry had 15 points in the second half in the first game, but he will need to be much better from the floor if the warriors want to pull the series even. Curry set the record for 3-pointers in the NBA this past regular season and after going just four of 10 from long range in game one he will need to rebound. Jarrett Jack has been solid for the Warriors and he ended up third behind JR Smith for the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year award and with Lee out someone will need to make up for the scoring.
The first game ended in exciting fashion with a last second shot from Andre Miller and the Warriors did not have time to get off another shot, leaving Denver with the first game win. Andrew Bogut and Klay Thompson will be forced to step up without Lee and the Nuggets will try to use Kenneth Faried to dominate the boards without Lee in the fold. The Warriors ended the season as the third ranked rebounding team in the league, but that was with Lee and now they must figure out how to win without him. The Nuggets ranked first in scoring and second in rebounding and will continue to use that advantage over Golden State. The team was third in assists and had one of the best home records of anyone in the NBA and the Warriors will have to be on the top of their game on Tuesday to even up the first round.
