The Tennessee Titans had remained relatively quiet on their draft plan, that was until their pre-draft conference when head coach Mike Munchak and general manager Ruston Webster spilled the beans on the team's overall options. Webster revealed that the team is looking to get the best cornerback available in the draft. Defense is their main focus and they have considered all options, including a possible trade up to get Dee Milliner or Xavier Rhodes.
The Titans will draft at No. 10 overall. They have to decide if either cornerback is worth attempting to move up in the draft order. Multiple teams are looking to trade down, so if the Titans could have plenty of suitors looking to make a small deal and adjust when they draft. Tennessee runs the risk of someone trading up and jumping them in order to get one of those two players, so making a deal early and quick would be wise.
The Titans plan on running a more blitz-heavy defense this coming season and want a cornerback that can play well in press coverage. Webster has been impressed with the defensive talent the team has seen in the draft.
"There are...some big corners that are talented players. Those are typically the best press guys. There are also some guys that will be really good nickel players. So I really think it's a good year. There are a lot of corners we like. But as far as press guys go, yeah, there are a good number of those players," Webster said.
The team has mainly targeted Rhodes and Milliner. It was recently reported that Milliner has undergone five surgeries during his career as Alabama, yet has only missed one game in three seasons. He is currently rehabbing from his most recent shoulder surgery. Webster refused to comment on Milliner's injury history, but said it was something that the team was considering.
Milliner will likely be gone in the first five picks and Rhodes may or may not be available by No. 10. If the Titans want the best of the best, a trade up the draft board could be in their future.
