Matt Kenseth won the Sprint Cup race on Sunday at Kansas Speedway, but after failing the post-race inspection, the NASCAR star could be facing possible sanctions and penalties for his team.

According to Yahoo Sports, Kenseth's engine failed a secondary inspection at NASCAR's Research and Development Center in Corcord despite making it through the first one at the track. The report says that sources said that the weight of one of the connecting rods did not meet requirements and now Kenseth could be facing penalties.

Joe Gibbs Racing uses Toyota developed engines and the win for Kenseth was his second of the season already and NASCAR has started working on penalties for the driver and his team, according to ESPN.com. Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano were docked points after having issues at the last race at the NRA 500 at Texas Motor Speedway and now Kenseth will have to deal with penalties.

Danica Patrick also had some issues in the race with the way David Gilliland was driving with her and she got a bit heated during the race. Afterwards he told a reporter that she should "shut up and race".

"He tries to take me out every time. Tell his spotter that I'm coming after him if he does it again. In fact I might just do it right now."
