Chelsea Transfer News: Lewandowski-De Bruyne Swap Deal in the Summer with Borussia Dortmund?

Borussia Dortmund would prefer to sell Robert Lewandowski to Chelsea instead of Bayern Munich or Manchester United.

Lewandowski is one of the most sought after strikers in Europe at the moment, with the Polish international showing tremendous form this season, which was highlighted by the supreme four-goal effort against Real Madrid in the Champions League semifinal first leg at Westfalenstadion.

The 24-year-old has yet to agree a new contract with Dortmund, and with his current deal set to expire in 2014, it is widely expected that the German club will be forced to sell their star player in this summer's transfer window.

Bayern Munich are thought to be the prime candidates for Lewandowski's signature, with several reports suggesting a deal was already in place between the player and the Bundesliga champions.

However, Dortmund do not want to sell Lewandowski to their rivals Bayern, whom they meet in the Champions League final, especially after seeing Mario Gotze prised away, when Bayern met the player's buyout clause.

Manchester United are the other frontrunners for the striker's signature, with Sir Alex Ferguson admitting his interest in the player on a couple of occasions.

Chelsea, though, have now joined the two big clubs in showing their interest for Lewandowski, with Jose Mourinho, who has been heavily linked with the Chelsea manager's job, reportedly texting the Dortmund player of his wish to see him at Stamford Bridge next season.

Now, Dortmund, after learning about Chelsea's interest, have shown their willingness to do business, due to their interest in Blues playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, according to the Daily Star.

De Bruyne is expected to leave on another season long loan at the very least next season, with the Belgian international impressing during his spell with Werder Bremen.

Bayer Leverkusen are interested in the youngster, and wanted a loan move as part of a deal which would bring Andre Shurrle.

However, De Bruyne reportedly prefers a move to Dortmund and is ready to switch to Westfalenstadion, with Dortmund ready to push for a permanent deal.

If Chelsea can strike a deal with Dortmund for Lewandowski, then it will be seen as a major coup and a real statement of intent from the West London side ahead of next season.

It could also spell the end for Fernando Torres, who has been a shadow of his old self ever since making a big-money move from Liverpool in January 2011.
