Terrell Owens Rumors: Says New England Patriots Signing 'No-Brainer' as Receiver Downplays Work Out with Tom Brady

Terrelle Owens is ready to play football again. The wide receiver has say out of football for a year now, but is still hopeful a team will call his number and give him a shot at getting back on the field. Rumors began to swirl last month when Owens was spotted in California working out with quarterback Tom Brady and other New England Patriots' wide receivers. After both parties denied any meaning behind the passing session, Owens is hoping something comes of it. He recently told BlindsideFootball.com that he has a high level of interest when it comes to the Patriots.

"I think that's a no-brainer. You look at what they've done over the years. Under the tutelage of Tom Brady and Coach Bellichick, I think they sky would be the limit in terms of what I'd be able to do. Considering my body of work and my history of playing the game," Owens said.

After the documented workout between Owens and Brady took place, the Patriots came out and send they had no interest in bringing in Owens and felt set at the position. Owens himself downplayed the whole thing. In a recent interview he said that everyone just happened to be on the same field at the same time. Nothing was organized about it. Despite the casualness of the workout, it certainly flared up a lot of rumors.

Owens has not seen an NFL roster since 2012 and has not seen an NFL football field since 2010. The last time Owens was playing full-time in the NFL was 2010 with the Cincinnati Bengals. He started 11 of 14 games, catching 72 passes for 983 yards and nine touchdowns. The team decided to release him after the season was over and no other team came calling. Owens then signed with the Allen Wranglers, part of the Indoor Football League. He played eight games for the team while also becoming co-owner. Once that stint was over, Owens signed with the Seattle Seahawks prior to the 2012 season but never made it past training camp.

At 39-years old, he has proven to still be in shape and would like one more chance at playing the game. At this point, while anyone is game to sign Owens, New England could be a good fit. They can sign Owens to the bare minimum and ultimately receive no repercussions if he turns out to be a bad fit for the team. While it is an extreme long shot that Owens joins a football team in the fall, if he keeps having these unorganized workouts with Brady, something might come of it.
