Floyd Mayweather Jr. Injury Won't Won't Delay Sept. 14 Fight

After dominating his fight against Robert Guerrero on Saturday, boxing champ Floyd Mayweather Jr. got his swollen and bruised right hand checked out and taken care of at a hospital Saturday night, according to CBS Sports.

"He went to the hospital [Saturday] night and everything is fine," Mayweather's publicist, Kelly Swanson, told ESPN.com. "He just experienced some soreness."

According to reports, being that the injury he has is just soreness, Mayweather will be able to fight again Sept. 14 as originally scheduled.

His Sept. 14 fight will be the second pay-per-view bout in his 30-month, six-fight deal with Showtime/CBS. His opponent has yet to be announced or determined.

Fans have been more interested in seeing Mayweather in a bout with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (41-0-1, 30 KOs), but there is little belief that there will be enough promotional lead time for a mega fight of that magnitude, which "hasn't been negotiated yet," according to mlive.com's David Mayo.

"They're going to keep making opponents," Mayweather said when asked about Alvarez. "This is not going to stop. And I'm not saying Canelo is not a good fighter. But I'm happy with my victory tonight and all I'm going to do is take one day at a time."
